OpenVME - DB/Fastdump
DB/Fastdump DB/Fastdump provides the fastest backup of IDMSX databases and can also be used to backup non-IDMSX files on Fujitsu (ICL) OpenVME.
DB/Fastdump replaces Fujitsu (ICL) standard dump and restore system. It can dump at over 2Mb per second, and intelligent compression ensures minimum tape usage. A user hook for concurrent processing of database or dump is provided.
DB/Fastdump is up to 10 times faster than the standard utility, and also includes software to copy IDMSX journals to tape.

Technical:
Security dumps of your database, including Data Dictionaries, are taken by copying your IDMSX format database to a DB/Fastdump format serial database (dumpfile)
Restore all or part of your database, by copying a DB/Fastdump dumpfile back to your IDMSX database
Database utilisation reports are generated without the need to carry out an actual dump or actual restore
Perform user-defined serial processing of your database, at very high speeds, without actually carrying out a dump or restore
